Stephanie is Fresh Off the Boat It looks like it’s time for an actual blog entry. Yes, I haven’t done this in a while, but I have found an important issue that I thought needed to be addressed. For years and years now, I have found that nay; my home is really not intended by fate to be in California, but instead, Hong Kong.

But, for some strange reason I was placed here. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I want to live in China, but everyone seems to think I would “fit” in better there. Layman’s terms? Yeah, everyone thinks I’m a fob. So it all started this morning when I received a message on Facebook from my self-professed fob friend. In the message I sent him before, I told him about my minimal, but existent knowledge of Hong Kong pop culture; the celebrities I know about. And he returns with this message: “ahh, that explains your hairstyle!” Hm… And just two days ago during daycamp, one of my sixth grade girls, this one;
(ironically, as we hold our Eggettes Boba) and I were discussing what people looked like and where they might come from, and she tells me this: “Yeah. And you look like you don’t speak any English at ALL!” Thanks. This really explains the plethora of fobby guys from school who I’ve been told thought I was pretty. It’s because I remind them of home. I guess it’s just time to accept the truth. |
